Veracitas dei (Dubito ergo sum)

Polyurethane foam, wood, iron bar, metal nuts

The term “Veritas dei” comes from the research method of René Descartes with which he searched for the final, basic and eternal truths. The existence of these truths is, according to him, given by the truth-warraniting God.

The artwork transforms Descartes’ famous quotation into a form where instead of knowledge a doubt appears. It reflects the post-truth era where a factual information turns into a dynamic one, presented with uncontrollable growth and deformation. The information authority disappears and is replaced with collective intelligence which grants “everything” and nothing at the same time.
